Meet your Photographer.
Hi I'm Paulina, I photograph my tiny clients from my cosy home studio in Larkhall. I have been specialising in new-born photography since 2013, however when I found out  was pregnant with my boy Stefan I have taken my photography to the next level. Becoming a mum made me understand that newborn's are newborn's for what seems like a second, and capturing the first magical moments of your baby's life is irreplaceable.
You wait months for your little bundle of joy to arrive, so once they're here, treasure every moment! Your baby will rapidly change every single day, which is why it's so important to capture them as they will change right before your eyes.

That is why l love to capture all it is that makes them newborn's, those wrinkles and rolls, eyelashes, fingers and toes, hair, nose, ears and squidgy lips, all the things you so easily forget as they grow. After all, you replace the pram, you throw away the toys and you part with the clothes, but photographs are the one thing that will remain. They're only this small once, create these memories while you can.

So celebrate the birth of your baby with a memorable experience of your baby’s first professional photographs...

You won't regret it.

BOOKING YOUR NEWBORN SESSON
WHAT IS THE IDEAL AGE FOR A NEWBORN STUDIO SESSION?

For studio photography the ideal age is between 5-14 days. When babies are that tiny they spend a lot of time sleeping and still curl up into very sweet poses similar to the positions they were in when they were in the womb. After two weeks babies go through a growth spurt and will start stretching their arms and legs and will not be as amenable to curling up for a picture or sleeping as soundly, which is needed for some of the poses and photographs in props like the buckets.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD YOU BOOK YOUR SESSION?

You should book your session as far out as possible, as early as your second trimester. I usually book sessions 2 months in advance and for busy photography seasons, it can even be 3-4 months out. I've received hundreds of phone calls from parents who have just given birth who want to book an appointment and I have no availability left.

WHAT IF BABIES DON’T ARRIVE ON THEIR DUE DATES? I hold time before and after so the parents are guaranteed a space no matter when their baby arrives.

BEFORE THE NEWBORN SESSION:

Try to keep baby awake for 1-2 hours before you arrive, as for best results, we want a sleepy baby during the session. Feed the baby before you arrive to studio. Dress baby in a bodygrow and nappy only (no vest).During the session: Newborn sessions generally take a minimum of 3 hours; it normally takes baby about 1 hour to achieve the deep sleep required for posing without awakening. To a large extent, baby determines what happens during the sessions and will probably need top up feeds to ensure a deep sleep. If baby is bottle fed, remember to bring spares! Feel free to bring refreshments, book/iPad/magazines etc. to keep you nourished/occupied while I work with your newborn, as the session may take longer than expected. My home studio, will be heated to approximately 25-30°C, so will feel very warm from the outset. It is therefore advisable to wear layers of clothing that can be easily removed if you get too hot. If you would like photos of your newborn with their older sibling(s), please arrange for them to be there during the first or last 15 minutes of the session only. This prevents them from becoming bored and disrupting the baby. I will pose baby prior to each photograph. Not all babies are able to achieve every pose, so if baby appears uncomfortable at any time, we’ll abandon that pose and move on to the next. If Baby will be naked for all shots, but private parts will always be discretely concealed, so never photographed. Because naked babies are prone to the occasional ‘accident’ during sessions, all wraps, throws, fabrics etc. are freshly laundered before every session and plenty of spares are always to hand!
